Orthopedic Elbow Treatments
Dr. Ruht continues to provide care to patients who present with Overuse Syndrome and pain, secondary to tennis elbow, arthritis and nerve injuries. Surgical and non-surgical treatments are available.
PinPointe Foot Laser
PinPointe FootLaser is the first and currently the only laser to receive a clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to treat the symptoms of patients suffering from onychomycosis. The Orthopedic Foot, Ankle and Knee Institute is the only orthopedic surgery practice in the Allentown, Lehigh Valley area to offer this clinically proven treatment. We have been designated a “Reference Center” to promote and teach this technology to other health care providers.
Fungal nail infection is estimated to affect more than 10% of the U.S. population, or 35 million Americans. Given the number of patients who suffer from nail fungus nationwide, we believe that you will be interested in receiving treatments with the PinPointe FootLaser.
The PinPointe FootLaser is designed specifically to meet the needs of the orthopedic community. PinPointe FootLaser typically requires a 30-minute treatment performed in the comfort and privacy of our office.
Nail fungus is an embarrassing chronic condition that impacts a person’s quality of life and can lead to serious health problems for patients with diabetes or immune disorders. The treatment of nail infection is difficult because the infection is under and inside of the nail, which makes it hard for other treatments to reach and destroy the infection. Treatments such as medicated nail polish or oral medications may be associated with side effects or serious drug interactions. Home remedies such as bleach, vinegar, mouthwash or household cleaners to resolve the problem are often tried but, ultimately, fail to resolve it.

Orthopedic Shoulder Treatments
Dr. Ruht continues to provide non-surgical and surgical care for shoulder injuries. Non-surgical treatments include nsaids, injections, and physical therapy. Surgical treatments include arthroscopy, arthroscopic decompression, repair of rotator cuff tears, and shoulder replacements.

Orthopedic Hand & Wrist Treatments
Dr. Ruht continues to offer surgical and non-surgical techniques for painful and overuse syndromes of the hand, wrist and forearms. These overuse syndromes include carpal tunnel, trigger finger, arthritis and tendonitis.

Orthopedic Spine Treatments
Dr. Ruht’s expertise may be in foot, ankle and knee surgery, but he continues to provide care for patients with chronic spine problems including neck, thoracic, and low back problems. He does the initial evaluation and work up, as well as nonsurgical conservative treatments.
If the patient requires further treatment or surgery, he will refer that patient to a spine specialist.
Orthopedic Knee Treatments
Dr. Ruht has extensive experience in treating acute, subacute and chronic knee injuries including traumatic, overuse and athletic damage to the knee. Surgical and non-surgical treatment includes light-weight customized and off -the -shelf knee braces with on-site casting, custom fitting and modifications by our Certified Full-time Orthotist. Dr. Ruht’s office is an Accredited and Certified Member of ABC*, a prestigious organization with stringent certification requirements.
Dr. Ruht provides non-surgical treatment for knee injuries including intra-articular injections of hyaluronic products (i.e.: synvisc, hyalgan, supartz, and euflexa) and steroids. Dr. Ruht is experienced in reconstructive knee surgeries including arthroscopic, microfracture, cartilage transplant, alignment reconstruction, and total knee replacements (mini-incision–gender specific, using state of the art custom prosthesis.

Platelet Rich Plasma – PRP
Platelet activation plays a key role in the body’s natural healing process. Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy uses injections of a concentration of a patient’s own platelets to accelerate the healing of injured tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints. In this way, PRP injections use each individual patient’s own healing system to improve musculoskeletal problems.

Orthotics Therapy
For patients requiring orthotic care, a high-quality treatment plan can return a patient to work sooner and allow for proper exercise and mobility. In the case of diabetic patient’s care management, proper orthotic care can reduce the likelihood of future complications.
Due to these reasons, certain insurance companies are beginning to see increased value in raising their standards for providers of orthotic care. Therefore, becoming an accredited facility shows the patients how important their care is to us.
Our Facility has received the accreditation from ABC* and we proudly display our logo to let the patients know of our accomplishment.
This service is unique to the Lehigh Valley and surrounding communities providing “one-stop shopping” for all bracing needs and requirements. For your convenience, we have a full-time, Certified Orthotist on premises at all times providing custom casting, fabrication, fittings and modifications. We also carry off-the-shelf braces if needed.
As a courtesy to our patients, we will verify insurance coverage and obtain precertification if required.
