Barry A. Ruht, MD

Dr. Barry Ruht is a native of suburban Philadelphia who completed his internship at the Lehigh Valley Network, introducing him to the Lehigh Valley.  After completion of his orthopedic residency at Temple University Hospital, he returned to the Valley and the practice of orthopedic surgery.

Dr. Ruht is an experienced, board-certified orthopedic surgeon who is fellowship trained in Foot and Ankle Surgery.  Dr. Ruht took one year off from full-time private practice in 2004 to pursue this fellowship.  Dr. Ruht's fellowship was completed at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital Systems with Dr. Keith Wapner, Dr. Paul Hecht, and Dr. Wen Chao, internationally known board-certified orthopedic surgeons specialized in Foot and Ankle Surgery.

Upon his return to the Valley, Dr. Ruht resumed his General Orthopedic Practice with additional emphasis on foot, ankle and knee problems.  Dr. Ruht is a seasoned Total Knee Replacement/Reconstructive knee surgeon who has updated his credentials while at the University of Pennsylvania spending time with surgeons performing gender-specific, minimally invasive Total Knee Replacement surgery.

In addition to the total knee replacements and reconstructive knee surgery, his other area of special interest and study in foot and ankle surgeries include flatfoot symptoms, painful bunion and hammertoes, including failed bunion and hammertoe surgeries, and ankle arthritis.

Dr. Ruht continues to pursue his interest in general orthopedics evaluating and treating injuries to the Neck (cervical spine) and low back (lumbosacral spine) nonsurgically.  Dr. Ruht also continues to evaluate, treat, and surgically correct injuries to the shoulder (rotator cuff and arthritis), elbow (tennis elbow and overuse injuries), wrist and fingers (carpal tunnel and trigger finger).

Dr. Ruht's solo practice efforts are directed to high-quality, individualized patient care with easy accessibility, the latest and most sophisticated technology and surgical skills, along with a friendly and sophisticated office staff.

Dr. Ruht currently lives in Allentown with his wife Caren, a dentist, specializing in prosthodontics.  His three children are his number one interest away from work.

Dr. Ruht's hobbies include playing competitive golf, downhill skiing, and occasional car club racing at Pocono International Raceway.
